The annual list highlights leaders, innovators, shapers, and thinkers who have a stake in the future of AI.
TIME recognises Tijani for his leadership of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, a national initiative to equip three million Nigerians with digital and AI skills by 2027. To date, nearly 300,000 participants have undergone training through a blend of digital platforms and 220 learning centres.
The program includes career support through partnerships with international organisations and companies such as data labelling firm Awarri, which has begun hiring trainees.
In addition to talent development, Tijani led Nigeria’s National AI Strategy, created with inputs from 150 domestic experts, aimed at ensuring responsible AI adoption across sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, and financial inclusion.
“This recognition validates our belief that Nigeria can stand as a global leader in the responsible and inclusive deployment of AI,” Tijani said. He reiterated his commitment to leveraging AI as a driver of innovation and as a contributor to building a $1 trillion economy, as envisioned by President Bola Tinubu.
