A wave of relief and celebration has swept through the health sector in Kaduna State following Governor Uba Sani’s approval of a new salary structure and hazard allowance for all health workers. The move, which is set to take effect from September 2025, has been hailed as a significant victory for the state’s medical personnel.

The announcement was met with palpable joy, with many health workers describing the long-awaited approval as a major boost to morale and a step towards improved service delivery.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Kaduna State chapter, Mr. Ishaku Yakubu, noted that the new Consolidated Health Salary Structure was long overdue. He expressed optimism that the new wages and the dedicated hazard allowance would not only recognise the vital contributions of health workers but also enhance the quality of healthcare provided to residents across the state.

The governor’s decision is seen as a crucial step in addressing the welfare concerns of healthcare professionals and potentially curbing the persistent brain drain, which has seen many experienced personnel leave the country for better opportunities abroad.
